Collegio Romano
Historic site · Pigna, Italy
The Jesuit college building on piazza del Collegio Romano. VIVE describes it as the current seat of the Ministero della Cultura. Most of it is working offices rather than a visitor site; the part that opens to the public is the Sala della Crociera on its second floor.
History
VIVE describes the Collegio Romano as the majestic palace built between 1581 and 1584 at the wish of Pope Gregory XIII Boncompagni as the seat of the Studio della Compagnia di Gesu. Where it.wikipedia gives 1582 for the start of building, this guide follows VIVE.
