Attraction · EUR, Italy
Massimiliano Fuksas's convention centre, in three parts: la teca, a glass case 40 m high, 70 m wide and 175 m long, built with 18,000 tonnes of steel, 42,000 glass panels, 25,000 m2 of travertine and 28 lifts; la nuvola, a curved steel skeleton clad in perforated siliconed glass fibre holding an auditorium of 1,748 seats; and la lama, the tower occupied by the Hilton Rome EUR La Lama. There are over 26,000 m2 of usable space. It is a working convention centre, and no source states its opening hours, so none are given here.
History
Fuksas won an international competition held between 1998 and 2000, whose jury was chaired by Norman Foster and whose verdict was given on 16 February 2000. The foundation stone was laid on 11 December 2007 and the building was inaugurated in 2016.
