Palazzo della Civilta Italiana

Designed by Giovanni Guerrini, Ernesto Bruno Lapadula and Mario Romano. Construction began in December 1938, stopped in 1943 and was finished after the war. It was designed for load-bearing masonry and built in reinforced concrete, clad in travertine, with two opposed monumental staircases. Twenty-eight marble statues, each 3.40 m high, stand under the entrance-level arcades, and four sculptural groups of the Dioscuri by Publio Morbiducci and Alberto Felci flank the staircases. The inscription across the frontone reads: Un popolo di poeti di artisti di eroi di santi di pensatori di scienziati di navigatori di trasmigratori. Since 2015 the building has housed the headquarters of Fendi.
