Palazzo dello Sport (PalaEur)

The circular arena built for the 1960 Olympic Games, with a shallow dome and exposed reinforced concrete, its parterre a circle 46 m across. It is in use as a concert and events arena.

History

Marcello Piacentini designed it in 1956, with structural consultancy from Pier Luigi Nervi, and it was built between 1958 and 1960 by Ingg. Nervi e Bartoli for the XVII Olympic Games, holding the basketball and boxing events. It was modernised between 1999 and 2003, carried the name PalaLottomatica until 2018, and refurbishment works began in 2025.
