Fontana della Dea Roma in piazza del Popolo
Historic site · Campo Marzio, Italy
The fountain in the eastern hemicycle of piazza del Popolo, under the slope of the Pincio: an armed Dea Roma flanked by seated figures of the Tiber and the Aniene, with the she-wolf and the twins at her feet.
History
The Sovrintendenza gives it as completed in 1823, by Valadier with Giovanni Ceccarini. The Sovrintendenza keeps a separate page for the fountain of the same name on the Campidoglio, in rione Campitelli, which is a different work; this record is the piazza del Popolo one.
