The historical museum of the Rome fire brigade, at via Galvani 2, with the barracks entrance at via Marmorata 15. It was inaugurated on 18 April 2002 and covers the development of rescue in the city from antiquity onwards. History
The corps' own account describes scenographic reconstructions of the fire of AD 64, of the fire of 847 that came close to taking St Peter's, of the Sack of Rome in 1527 and of the bombing of Rome on 19 July 1943; sections on today's specialisms, among them divers, helicopter crews and the speleo-alpine-fluvial service; two reconstructions with audio and effects, of a flat fire and of a collapse after an earthquake; a multimedia room; and a laboratory bench for combustion experiments. Roma Capitale's tourism service adds that the collection was transferred here from the Scuola Antincendi at Capannelle.
