The fortified rectangular nucleus the town grew out of, its tufa-block walls traceable inside the later street plan, with four gates at the ends of the cardo and the decumanus.
History
Dated to the fourth century BC. Its cardo and decumanus set the axes the later town kept, and they cross at the Forum.
