Domus di Amore e Psiche
Historic site · Ostia Antica, Italy
A late Roman house of two storeys, with an arcaded corridor opening on a garden and a marble nymphaeum along one side. The main hall keeps polychrome marble inlay on walls and floor.
History
Built in the fourth century AD over an earlier commercial building. A room off the corridor held the group of Cupid and Psyche that gives the house its name; a cast stands in its place and the original is in the Museo Ostiense.
