Serapeo di Ostia

The temple of Serapis, standing on a podium behind a four-column pronaos with coloured marble paving, in a porticoed court with a central altar and a Nilotic mosaic. The inscription IOVI SERAPI is kept in the courtyard.
History
Built at the expense of the freedman Caltilius and inaugurated on 24 January 127 AD, Hadrian's birthday. The colonnaded entrance was added later in the second century and paved with a mosaic of the Apis bull.
