Palazzo delle Poste Roma Ostiense

A post office building of the 1930s on Via Marmorata: symmetrical, standing on a wide flight of steps, laid out on geometric ratios and the golden section, with three volumes in a U, faced in smooth white marble, a portico closing the rectangular court on the front, and end blocks carrying a crossed-diagonal motif that masks the internal stairs. It houses the Roma Ostiense post office, frazionario 55645. it.wikipedia's article on the building says it is situated in via Marmorata, in rione San Saba.

History

it.wikipedia records that the 1932 competition called by the Ministero delle comunicazioni was won by Adalberto Libera, that the building went up between 1933 and 1935 and was inaugurated on 28 October 1935. It also records that Libera and Mario De Renzi entered designs for four post offices in the same competition, two signed by each, because the rules required a single signatory, and that De Renzi was only later established as co-author of the Via Marmorata building.
