Pioneer Log Cabin
Historic site · Golden Gate Park, California
A cabin constructed of unpeeled redwood logs from Humboldt County, with two rustic masonry chimneys, near the Stow Lake entrance off John F. Kennedy Drive.
History
It was built in 1911 as a meeting house for the Association of Pioneer Women of California, expanded in 1931 and restored in 1995. The Pioneer Mother, a bronze by Charles Grafly created in 1914 and exhibited at the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition, was installed nearby in 1940.
