Rose Garden

Park · Golden Gate Park, California

A rose garden of double rows of rectangular beds on John F. Kennedy Drive, with the bust of Thomas Masaryk by J. Matatka, bronze and granite of 1962, at its entrance.

History

The garden was developed in 1961 on the site of what was once a roadway between 14th Avenue and John F. Kennedy Drive; the roadway was removed when the Park Presidio Bypass was built in 1939. The Masaryk bust had previously been exhibited at the 1939 World's Fair on Treasure Island.
