Prospettiva del Borromini, Palazzo Spada

A colonnade built to deceive the eye, reached at the end of the first-floor museum route through the Giardino Segreto. The colonnade is 8.82 metres long and is built to read as about 35 metres: the mosaic floor rises, the ceiling drops, and the planes converge on a single vanishing point. The cast of a Roman warrior standing at the colonnade's end is 60 centimetres high and was placed there in 1861 by Prince Clemente Spada; from the entrance it appears life-size.
