One of the two streets of the Banchi, the papal banking quarter that gives Santi Celso e Giuliano in Banchi the second half of its name. Roma Capitale's street register records it as lying in Ponte alone. Palazzo Capponi Stampa stands at its corner with via degli Orsini.

No source states its history beyond the banking quarter it belongs to, so none is given here. Note that via dei Banchi Vecchi, the older banking street, is recorded by the same register as lying in three rioni and is not written in this guide.
