The church of the Banchi, the papal banking quarter, whose front stands on via del Banco di Santo Spirito while Roma Capitale gives its address on vicolo del Curato. History

Roma Capitale records that the church was consecrated in 432 by Pope Celestine I and enlarged in the ninth century; that Innocent III made it a papal chapel in 1198; that it was rebuilt in the sixteenth century and restored in the nineteenth; and that it holds the dignity of a minor basilica.
