The regional park authority, with its headquarters and visitor centre in the buildings of the former Cartiera Latina paper mill on via Appia Antica. The park it administers extends well beyond this quartiere. The authority runs bicycle hire on the Appia; no address is stated for it, so none is given here. The green area and car park at the headquarters open every day 08:30 to 17:00 in winter and 08:30 to 19:00 in summer, with tables and benches free to use, no reserving them and no events without authorisation. History
The site of the Cartiera Latina was granted to the regional park in 1998 as its headquarters and a multi-purpose visitor centre. The Via Appia was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2024 as Via Appia. Regina Viarum, a serial property of nineteen component parts inscribed under criteria (iii), (iv) and (vi). The road was constructed and developed from 312 BCE to the 4th century CE and runs more than 800 kilometres. A separate state body, the Parco archeologico dell'Appia antica of the Ministero della cultura, also operates in the quartiere and is not the same institution.
