Biblioteca di Archeologia e Storia dell'Arte (BiASA)

Historic site · Pigna, Italy

VIVE describes the BiASA as a public research library of the Ministero della Cultura specialising in archaeology, architecture and art history, founded in 1875 out of the book collection of the Direzione Generale Antichita e Belle Arti, and holding the archaeologist Rodolfo Lanciani's collection on deposit. Its Palazzo Venezia reading room reopened to the public on 28 April 2025 after consolidation and restoration work.

History

The library keeps a detached section elsewhere in this rione: the Sala della Crociera in the Collegio Romano has belonged to the BiASA since 1989.
