Palazzetto Mattei in Villa Celimontana (Società Geografica Italiana)

The Mattei casino inside Villa Celimontana, which has housed the Società Geografica Italiana, founded in Florence in 1867, since 1926. Roma Capitale gives its library as about 400,000 volumes on geography and allied disciplines with a rare-books section running from the sixteenth to the nineteenth century, a Cartoteca of about 200,000 maps including Chinese and Japanese maps of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, mostly manuscript, a Historical Archive of letters, travel notebooks and explorers' drawings, and a Photographic Archive of about 400,000 phototypes.
