Giardino delle Cascate

The Giardino delle Cascate covers about 42,000 m2. Raffaele De Vico designed it and it was inaugurated on 29 June 1961. It is laid out in two symmetrical sections about the axis of the central cascade, with an upper part of two hairpin promenades leading to two belvederes and a lower part of two cascades and lateral channels flanked by two cypress rotundas; a glass-floored footbridge crosses the central cascade and links the banks.
History
The pumping plant was modernised in 2010, and on 5 May 2017 the lowest section, about 5,000 m2 directly on the lake, opened to the public. The cascades oxygenate the lake, and belong to a water system that also takes in the lifting station on viale Oceania and the water tower known as il Fungo.
