Museo della Civilta Romana

Museum · EUR, Italy

Permanently closed. This page is kept for reference.

The museum is closed for refurbishment and safety works. No source states a reopening date. It shares its building with the Planetario di Roma, which is open.

History

The museum closed on 31 January 2014. Its building was designed by Pietro Aschieri, Domenico Bernardini, Cesare Pascoletti and Gino Peressutti, winners of an E42 competition, as two parallel projecting blocks with a travertine colonnade forming the backdrop to the square. The collections, which cannot currently be seen, are plaster casts, models and dioramas of Roman civilisation, and include the complete cast series of Trajan's Column and Italo Gismondi's 1:250 model of imperial Rome.
