The national gallery of modern and contemporary art, on the Valle Giulia side of the park. Its own site gives Viale delle Belle Arti 131, 00197 Roma, telephone +39 06 322981, and opening Tuesday to Sunday from 08.30 to 19.30, with last admission forty-five minutes before closing and closure on Mondays, 1 January and 25 December. Tickets are 10.00 euro full and 5.00 euro reduced, the reduction covering EU citizens aged 18 to 25 and teachers in EU state schools; entry is free for under-18s, journalists with a valid card, tourist guides, ICOM members and Ministry staff, and on the first Sunday of the month, and reduced for holders of a MAXXI or Museo delle Civilta ticket. An audio guide in Italian and English is 5.00 euro. The museum's own visitor rules permit photography without flash and amateur video. Its accessibility statement lists lifts, lift platforms and two wheelchairs, including for independent use. It gives its transport as metro line A to Flaminio, about 600 metres; trams 3 and 19 on viale delle Belle Arti; buses 61, 89, 160, 490, 495 and M at piazzale del Fiocco; and the Roma-Viterbo line to Flaminio.
History
The building was put up for the 1911 Esposizione nazionale to a design by Cesare Bazzani, in the Valle Giulia laid out for that exhibition.
