La Pelanda

A performance and production space of about 5,000 square metres inside the Mattatoio, used for dance, research theatre, music, installation work, workshops and production residencies. The restoration kept the structures and fittings of the Galleria delle Vasche; the main body is a large nave with a truncated-cone chimney and its metal plant, and the conversion was designed as an open, modular, walk-through system with large glazed surfaces. It also holds the Aula Studio La Pelanda, a free study room.
History
The pelanda was one of the buildings taken in hand in the site works of 2006 to 2010, within the recovery of the Mattatoio complex.
