Orto monastico di Santa Croce

The kitchen-and-flower garden of the Cistercian monastery of Santa Croce in Gerusalemme, recreated inside the oval of the Anfiteatro Castrense in 2004 to a design by the architect Paolo Pejrone, on the initiative of the Associazione Amici di Santa Croce in Gerusalemme. It is an elliptical space divided by two perpendicular pergola paths that meet at a central fountain. The basilica's own site states that the garden is held on concession by the parish, is used for pastoral activities, and that free access by visitors is not allowed.
