Palazzo Piacentini

The ministry building on the corner of via Molise and via Veneto, by Marcello Piacentini and Giuseppe Vaccaro, inaugurated in 1932 as the Palazzo delle Corporazioni and now the seat of the Ministero delle Imprese e del Made in Italy. Roma Capitale publishes the address as Via Molise 2; Italian Wikipedia's infobox gives via Veneto 33, which is the same corner building. Italian Wikipedia dates the construction 1928-1932 and says it was raised on the ground formerly occupied by the convent and vegetable garden of the Capuchins of Santa Maria della Concezione. It is not the Palazzo Piacentini in via Arenula, which is by Pio Piacentini; Italian Wikipedia warns about the confusion in terms.

History

Roma Capitale lists what is inside: Mario Sironi's polychrome window Carta del Lavoro, Ferruccio Ferrazzi's tapestries in the salone d'onore, Enrico Prampolini's Madonna dell'Aria, Fortunato Depero's Sintesi Veneziana, Giovanni Prini's bronze doors on via Veneto, Carlo Pini's sculptures in the atrium, and the Parlamentino, a hemicycle room ancora utilizzato per le riunioni del Dicastero. Italian Wikipedia adds Antonio Maraini and Ercole Drei to the list of artists.

The ministry states that the palace can be visited only by appointment, on a free guided tour arranged through its Polo culturale at Via Molise 2, with the full list of the group, no more than 25 to 30 people, sent at least fifteen days in advance. Check the ministry's current site for the booking address before going: the URL Roma Capitale prints, and the email address it gives, are both on the ministry's superseded domain.
