The national parish of Americans resident in Rome, and the church in this rione where everything happens in English. Italian Wikipedia records that it was built in 1908 to the design of Aristide Leonori, neo-Renaissance with Romanesque-Byzantine motifs on the façade, with three naves and a coffered ceiling. The parish's own site gives the address as Via Boncompagni 31. Check the parish site for opening times before going.

History

Italian Wikipedia records the apse mosaic San Patrizio che predica alle folle by Rodolfo Villani, 1929, the apse inscription Ut cristiani ita et romani sitis, and a sixteenth-century Madonna delle grazie over the high altar which came from the now-vanished church of Santa Maria in Posterula.

The church changed hands within living memory, and Italian Wikipedia, citing the National Catholic Reporter, dates it exactly. It belonged to the Irish Augustinians until 2017. From 1 August 2017 it passed to the Paulist Fathers, who moved here from Santa Susanna, their seat since 1922, and from that date it became the national parish of Americans resident in Rome in place of Santa Susanna. All Masses are in English. One source trap worth naming: stpatricksrome.com is a parked domain offered for sale and is not the parish; the parish's site is stpatricksamericanrome.org.
