Villa Grazioli

The area is documented as Villa Lecci on the plan of 1839 and on the 1845 to 1846 plan of the cantoni of Rome drawn for Baron von Moltke, and passed to the Grazioli Lante della Rovere family at the end of the nineteenth century. In 1937 Clemente Busiri Vici was commissioned to build a villa here for General Pietro Badoglio, and on the night of 7 to 8 September 1943 Badoglio met the American general Maxwell Taylor there, the day before the armistice of Cassibile was announced. According to roma2pass.it the former Badoglio villa now houses the embassy of the People's Republic of China. The Catacomba di Trasone runs almost entirely beneath this villa and its park.
