Sepolcri repubblicani di via Statilia

The tombs were found in 1916. They date to about 100 BC and were buried in the following century, and they were originally aligned along the ancient road also called the via Celimontana, which ran from the Porta Maggiore area toward the Celio. The tomb dated to about the middle of the first century BC takes the form of an ancient altar in blocks of tufa and peperino. Immediately opposite is a small underground area with the remains of two ancient water conduits in hollowed, interlocking tufa blocks.
