Acquario Romano — Casa dell'Architettura

Historic site · Esquilino, Italy

A nineteenth-century aquarium building on piazza Manfredo Fanti, owned by Roma Capitale and used since 2002 as the seat of the Casa dell'Architettura of the Ordine degli Architetti di Roma. No source states its opening hours, so none are given here.

History

It was built between 1885 and 1887 to the design of Ettore Bernich, on land the comune granted in 1882 to the ichthyologist Pietro Garganico for a fish-breeding station and aquarium, and laid out with a pond and small bridges outside on the model of the Paris squares. It was restored between 1985 and 2002.
