Villa Titta Ruffo

Historic site · Pinciano, Italy

A late liberty house at via Sassoferrato 11, also called the villino Titta Ruffo or villa Zanardo, built of tufa, grey stone and exposed brick, several heterogeneous blocks gathered around a five-storey central trunk with two square turrets, and terraces, loggias and altane in a Mediterranean vernacular. Its park keeps stone pines and tall palms.

History

It was built about 1919 as a single-family house for the baritone Titta Ruffo, to a design by the engineer Giovanni Sleiter, by the building firm of Zeffiro Rossellini, great-uncle of the director Roberto Rossellini.
