Villino Alatri

Historic site · Pinciano, Italy

A villino at the crossing of via Giovanni Paisiello and via Vincenzo Bellini, entered from the latter. It has a right-angled corner front and an L-shaped plan with the long side on via Paisiello, where the entrance originally was, and an internal garden behind. There are three floors, two of them above ground; the basement holds the boiler, a garage and the porter's flat, and there is a third floor in the roof for the servants and an altana on the via Bellini side.

History

Giacomo Alatri, a textile manufacturer and a figure in the Roman Jewish community, commissioned it from Vittorio Ballio Morpurgo in the 1920s. Its own article dates it to 1928 and its restructuring to 1949; Pinciano's own article gives 1924 to 1928 and names no architect.
