A basilican church of three naves on antique columns whose Ionic capitals are all different, arranged in the medieval period, recorded in the rione's own monument list. The adjoining convent is now the Redemptorists', who officiate the church. No source states its opening hours, so none are given here.
History
The church is first recorded among the daughter churches of San Lorenzo in Damaso in a bull of Urban III of 1186. It was restored in 1245 and again in 1597, when it was raised to escape repeated Tiber flooding, and completely rebuilt in 1682 under Innocent XI. The name appears to come from the Monteroni family of Siena, who founded it together with a small hospice for Sienese pilgrims. It was a parish church until Leo XII, 1823 to 1829, transferred the cure of souls to Sant'Eustachio. The high altar carries a Madonna between St Peter Nolasco and St Peter Pascasius by Pompeo Batoni; the funerary monument of Cardinal Stefano Durazzo is on the left presbytery wall, and the Gondi family are buried in the left nave.
