History
Roma Capitale records that the theatre opened on 13 January 1732 with Domenico Sarro's Berenice, when it belonged to the Sforza Cesarini; that Paganini played in 1827 in the room above the vestibule; and that Verdi's La battaglia di Legnano had its premiere here in 1849. The city acquired it after 1870 as its institutional theatre.
