A sunken archaeological enclosure in the middle of the city holding four Republican temples, the remains of the church of San Nicola de Calcarario and the medieval Torre del Papito. Entry is on via di San Nicola de' Cesarini, opposite no. 10; the ticket office and bookshop are in the Torre del Papito, piazza dei Calcarari. The Sovrintendenza Capitolina gives the hours as Tuesday to Sunday, 10.00 to 16.00 in winter and 10.00 to 19.00 in summer, with 9.30 to 14.00 on 24 and 31 December, closed Mondays, 25 December and 1 May. Its published tariff is 7.00 euro full and 4.00 euro reduced for non-residents, plus 1.00 euro advance booking; entry is free for residents of Rome and the metropolitan area on production of proof of residence, and free on the first Sunday of the month subject to capacity. Entry is timed every twenty minutes.
