Biblioteche di Roma gives hours for 2 January to 31 December 2026 of Monday to Friday 09.00 to 19.00 and Saturday 09.00 to 13.00, closed on Sundays. Most of the collection is on open shelves, but the Fondo Ostia, which holds material on the history and on the natural and urban landscape of the Roman coast, and the professional bibliography are not, and have to be asked for at the desk. History
The library opened in 2001 with funds from the Giubileo 2000 and belongs to Roma Capitale's Istituzione Sistema Biblioteche e Centri Culturali. Biblioteche di Roma's open data on holdings by type of document gives about 31,000 books, 3,100 DVDs and 2,500 audio CDs; it.wikipedia gives the holding at the temporary site as about 7,000 volumes, and dates the move to 4 September 2025, made for energy-efficiency works. it.wikipedia and the library's OPAC also record a collection of nearly a hundred titles in Comunicazione Aumentativa e Alternativa. The library is named for the writer Elsa Morante.
